Dear Humans,
The stories section of SkighHy is still a work in progress. I have been spending the majority of my time working on my own healing and continuing to build our weekly support group! This section is still very much the heart and soul of who we are, but I needed to take time away to dive deep into my own experience to know what challenges I face in order to grasp even an inkling idea of what difficulties I would be asking my volunteers to go through, to tell the truth of their own stories.
Being vulnerable was something I led myself to believe existed easily within me. Spoiler alert - it does not! So many things I thought were me being vulnerable were ways of hiding or numbing what I was feeling. Turns out I’m just a really good narrator. Fuck!
Anyway, I wish I could tell you that now is the time for me to bring back in full force our stories and my hunt for other humans with a magical experience, but it is not - yet. Don’t let the slow motion stop you from contacting the organization to get your story out there though! It is my goal to bring you along as more than just a reader. I want to make you a creator. I want to give you a platform to share your stories, express your feelings, and sell your work! If you have overcome an obstacle, have an idea, a talent, or a mission you wish to share with the world, I want to connect with you. If you were a drug dealer, a drug addict, a victim, a survivor, a warrior, a weak link… if you struggle with mental health, or with yourself…. I want to know about it. I want to help you find the strength in what makes you, you - the good, the bad, and the ugly!
You don’t have to be an artist or a fantastic storyteller, you just have to be human and show up with a goal. This starts with me, but the story will only continue because of you. Contact me below.
Thank you all for your continued support,
Skyler Wikoff
